Free Webinar: Walk-Throughs for Teachers Observing Peers
Join Donald Kachur, author of the new ASCD book Engaging Teachers in Classroom Walkthroughs, in a free webinar on learning how to plan and implement an engaging form of embedded professional development in which teachers are actively involved as observers of peers in classroom walk-throughs.
Tuesday July 30, 2013, 3:00 p.m. eastern time
Kachur, Professor Emeritus of Education from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Illinois State University and former executive director of Illinois ASCD, will explore how to create a teacher-led walk-through model and get teachers involved and actively participating in opportunities to observe, be observed, and engage with one another in reflective discussions on how to improve teaching and learning.
The webinar will include a focus on fostering a receptive school culture for teacher walk-throughs, the supporting role of the school principal, coordinating and scheduling walk-throughs, developing walking norms, dealing with resistant or reluctant teachers, and sustaining the walk-through momentum.
This webinar is a part of ASCD's free Summer Boot Camp webinar series on engagement and motivation strategies. Sign up for one or all of these webinars and view archived presentations at www.ascd.org/bootcamp.
